second [video/action for Cherrygrove/Route 29]

[There's been more than enough time for Ziva to make it to the next town, but she hasn't gotten any farther. She seems to be busy with her Mawile, on Route 29 just outside of Cherrygrove City.]

Eli. That attack is not working on most of what we have encountered so far. Can you not do something else.

[Of course he can't--the Mawile shakes his head. All he's got is Astonish. Ziva sighs.]

You have that mouth. Can you not simply...bite? You do it while eating, simply face your opponent and...chew.

Maaaa...

You have got to be kidding. I named you for my father, but I think at this point he would be embarrassed rather than flattered.

[The grass rustles nearby, and Ziva turns in that direction.]

Let us try this again.

[She commands Eli forward, and this time she's battling a Shinx. Which she's obviously never seen before. Fantastic. She doesn't really expect Astonish to hit, the ghost-type move hasn't done anything to the normal types they've run into so far. But...it actually works. Huh.]

Keep it. Whack your thing in the head with it, it might make him a little smarter.

[Ulterior motive, what ulterior motive. Besides, TM27's well suited to this kind of thing - reasonably cheap as TMs go, any Pokemon can learn it, and Return works based on friendship — so the better she gets along with the thing, the better it'll be at helping her out in exchange. Not half bad.

Also, unlike her critter's existing movepool, it'll actually hit some damn Normal types.]

[Well, admittedly he was legit about never having used the computer systems before, and frankly he's pretty curious about investigating whether or not the TMs live up to their reputation, too. So it's not wholly altruistic. There's at least some personal benefit.

There is also, admittedly, a certain amount of stock put in the belief that federal agents take care of their own.]

[She picks up her Gear, and brings it down to the level of her Mawile with his little grey and blue scarf. And then feeling rather silly, she whacks him lightly over the head, causing the disc to break. Fragile things. And also really weird to use. Usually discs like this are supposed to be put in a drive, aren't they?

But at least little Eli looks excited.]

[Well, that's one way of making a ton of money off the things — force people to buy them again and again.]

It looks like a normal computer disc. It seems counter-intuitive to break it...

[She frowns. But she barely tapped that thing. Eli do you have the hardest head known to man?

Also he's tugging at her hand, evidently eager to show off his new trick.]

[She gets up and follows him outside. Some poor hapless Pidgey is gonna get beat up.]

It also seems counter-intuitive that the thing could learn anything from taking one to the head with it, but nobody ever said this place works on Earth logic.

[She heads out onto Route 30, Eli running ahead to dive into the grass. He chases a Shellos back out and then slams it with the giant mouth on the back of his head.]

I have seen quite a few parallels between other teams we have worked with and my own. Surely just a coincidence, but a funny one.
