OLD: fourth [action/video]; backdated to Friday afternoon

[Rasha the Haunter really doesn't understand what his trainer is doing. She's been acting strangely all day--she left the light on in her room all last night, even while she slept, hasn't touched her Gear at all, and hasn't taken any of them out of town to train. Even when Ari and Vicky started growling at each other, she didn't put Ari in his Pokeball like she usually does when they fight.

So he's taking it upon himself to do what he thinks is staging an intervention. Or playing a trick, it could go either way with him--he's stolen Ziva's Gear, and is floating along behind her as she walks towards the bridge in front of Sprout Tower.

...thing is, he's not so good with the camera, so it's pointing at the ground for most of the trip. But when she stops, it focuses properly--she's standing at the edge of the water, saying weird complicated things and throwing bits of bread that she's taken from her pockets into the water.

...well, the Magikarp probably appreciate the free lunch, at least. Once her pockets have emptied, Ziva turns--and sees her 'Gear clutched in one of her Haunter's hands. Sigh.]

Rasha. Give that here.

_{[Toothless is entranced by the fact that his 'Gear screen appears to be FOLLOWING Ziva around! As such, he's pretty content to just watch that for a bit. It doesn't seem to occur to him that someone must be carrying it.]

[In fact, when she turns around and addresses the 'Gear as 'Rasha', he looks confused.]

[What. He thought they'd been through this!]}

[She has her gear now, and turns it around to face her Haunter.]

[He brightens a little bit, because hey, it's a new word to try and say!]}

[Close enough. She settles in the grass nearby, and for lack of anything better to do, starts pointing her Gear at different things. First is her Houndoom. Let's see how many things you repeat before getting bored.]

[He smiles broadly.]}

[Hyuuga is baffled by this. He stares for a moment, and then finally queries curiously;]

What are you doing?

Tashlikh. Casting off.

It is a tradition, for this day.

Casting off what? [his curiousity is genuine and polite, with a quite undertone of bafflement.] I've never heard of a tradition like that before.

[Bread. Obviously. :| ~~and here's where we get into the adventures of a gentile playing a Jew.~~]

Sins. It is symbolic.

[She shrugs.]

And a simple way to mark the day, somehow.

I didn't think sins were so easy to cast off.

They are not.

[She doesn't seem bothered by this.]

But neither is history and tradition.

Tradition does drive us to many things.

How badly do you mind being disturbed right now?

Not too badly.

[She's taken the 'Gear from her Haunter and is relocating to sit underneath a tree near the water.]

That's quite the relief. You seemed very absorbed. With a very... magnificent kind of quiet dignity, but I couldn't help spoiling it.

[That gets a little laugh.]

It was just a holiday tradition.

Well, tradition is very useful for lending dignity to the observer. In my opinion, at any rate.

[Oh you dog. Ziva sees what you're doing--and it's getting a bit of her evil side out.]

Is that so. And here I was thinking that you were merely flattering me.

[He smirks.]

Clearly I'm not trying hard enough, if you can attach a 'merely' to it.

[Hah.]

I'd suggest you do not try too hard--you just might come off as desperate. That would be a shame.

I don't know, sometimes desperate works for me. But, you're right. For now, I'd much rather just listen to you talk.

[Oh you.]

And such a handsome and charming man must resort to desperation? Such a shame.

[He obviously thinks he's handsome and charming anyway. Ziva's not denying the former, certainly.]

I don't think of it as resorting, per se. Pressing whatever advantage of I can find, perhaps. Using my resources.

[He smiles, letting some of his hair fall in his face.]

If you think it's such a shame, maybe you can do something to help me.

And what exactly did you have in mind?

Well, buying you a drink might be a good confidence boost for me.

I've never seen anyone feed the fish yet.

That...was not strictly my intention. Though I suppose they appreciate the gesture.

It's probably better food than whatever they have.

It is a holiday tradition. It is Rosh Hashanah--the Jewish new year, more or less.

[Yes, in the middle of fall. What of it.]

This is one of the ways to mark the holiday that I can do here.

Oh. [ She didn't know that ] What else is there?

[She's been moving away from the bridge, towards a tree at the waterline as she speaks--she sits underneath it. ~~Oh, how she loves explaining these things.~~]

There is the sounding of the shofar, which takes place in the synagogue. Prayer. Some traditional foods.

It is meant to be a quiet day of introspection, the beginning of the time we consider the past year and the final time to make amends for sins of the past year.

I guess being recorded takes the quiet away. Did you want me to hang up so you can be alone?

No, I do not mind it. I am not particularly...devout about my faith.

I can change the subject if you don't want to talk about it?

[Ziva shrugs as her Houndoom comes into view, curling up beside her. She scratches at the base of one of his horns idly.]

If you want. I really do not mind answering questions too much.

What other traditions are there?

For today? Not much other than what I have already mentioned, though Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, which is a time to consider sins of the previous year and seek reconciliation with those we may have wronged.

Is it just for today?
