[The Pokegear flicks on to focus on Ziva's face, with a hint of a smile on it. Wordlessly, she turns the video to face the couch she's been sleeping on, where a brown and tan egg is wrapped in blankets, twitching and beginning to crack. Ari's standing nearby, staring at the egg with his muzzle resting on the arm of the couch.]

Tohru, the egg you gave me is hatching.

[With that, welcome to egg-hatching theater. It doesn't take long for the shell to glow and vanish, leaving a tiny little fluffball of an Eevee--all floppy ears and giant eyes and tiny paws, who promptly shakes herself off and squeaks happily.]

I think I will name her Tali.

[orz how to explain this shit is beyond her. She's pretty sure he has no frame of reference whatsoever. She just figures it's the same as when they evolve, but she doesn't know how to explaaaaain that. At least in a way that he'll understand. Stupid language barriers.]

[Frowning, she goes to find a piece of paper and a pen, thinking that maybe she can communicate this by drawing. First, she draws a Houndour, then a Houndoom, pointing to Ari once she shows the picture.]

[Then she draws an egg, and an Eevee, and points to Tali.]

[...no, she has no idea if any of that will get through to him.]

_{[Yeah, and it's... pretty hard to explain even COMPLETELY NORMAL things to Toothless sometimes, so there you go.]

[He wrinkles up his nose, squinting very hard at the drawings.]}
