sixth [video/action for Saffron City]
[Oh hey, it's a video in the Saffron City gym. Imagine that. The camera swings to face out over the battle arena in the center of the gym, Sabrina on one side, and another woman facing her.
That other woman happens to be Ziva, calmly rolling a couple Pokeballs around in one hand as she stares down Sabrina--who seems to be trash talking her.]
"It's taken you quite some time to work up the nerve to challenge me. How long have you stayed here, now? Four months?"
[Ziva doesn't rise to the bait. Actually--she returns just as much sass.]
I did not think it was important. I have nothing better to do at the moment, so shall we?
[And she needs to work off some frustration. Things had been going so nicely, and then Mio and Cooper leaving has kind of thrown everything into a tailspin. She transfers one of the pokeballs she was playing with into her other hand and tosses the remaining one. Her Houndoom, Ari, pops out of it--snarling and sparks drifting from his mouth. There's a reason she almost never has him out.]
"I suppose."
[Sabrina sends out her Espeon, and the match is barely officially begun when Ari leaps at the other canine, spitting fire. There's a serious level disparity in play here, but Ziva doesn't seem too worried about it, and Ari doesn't either, following her commands flawlessly despite growling in frustration with every hit he takes. It's a drawn-out fight, and by the end of it one might ask why Ziva's being so terrible to her Pokemon, right up until he's hit with a Signal Beam right when he closes in to use Fire Fang. It doesn't knock him out, but it's close--he skids backwards with a snarl, staggering as he starts glowing a violent dark-purple in preparation for Dark Pulse. Espeon crashes into him first, knocking him out.
Ziva recalls him, and throws out the other Pokeball she'd had palmed--Misty, her Absol. Who, unlike Ari, has the level advantage to go with the type, and starts off with a Swords Dance to boost her attack. She dodges the retaliatory Signal Beam with quick feet and hits with a vicious Sucker Punch, removing Espeon from the battle. Sabrina sends out her second, Mr. Mime, with a frown.]
"I see you prefer Dark types. Terrible and vicious, much like their trainer. You named your Houndoom for your brother...it seems you care as much for it as you did him, to sacrifice it so carelessly.
[The barb lands, and Ziva's anger finally starts to rise.]
I see that you prefer taunts and pretending at clairvoyance to unnerve your challengers. It will not work on me.
[The rest of the battle is a rout, with an attack-boosted Misty utterly destroying both Mr. Mime and Alakazam with ease. Ziva claims her badge and winnings and walks past Eli and the still recording camera without another word.]

Congratulations on the win. You really took her apart.
Video
[She's toying with the badge in her hand, surprisingly doesn't sound too pleased by her win.
Or maybe it was just what Sabrina said that was making her sound like that.]
I had known that Misty would be strong against her team, I did not expect her to win very nearly by herself.
Video
[wants to say Sabrina was wrong to say those things, that she was rude, but decides it might be better not to, with him not knowing the situation well enough to know how to approach it]
Video
[The Absol's head comes into frame, nudging under Ziva's elbow. Ziva scratches the area around the base of her horn idly.]
One still here, at least.
Video
Well... [screw it, he's just going for it] she was wrong to say those things to you. She was just trying to bully you into losing. Dark are strong against Psychics, yeah? So she was intimidated by you and wanted to throw you off your game. You showed to be better than her both in battle and by not raising to her bait, and you walked away with proof.
I admire that.
Re: Video
...thank you.
[She did let it get to her in the end, though. It wasn't the comment about dark types--she only has three, she knows that doesn't indicate a preference. Just using what's strong against the gym. She'd do the same for any of the others.]
But I did let it get to me.
Video
Most people can't brush off that kind of bullying. Don't hold it against yourself, it's not a weakness so long as you don't let it hinder you, and you didn't.
video;
It was a good match.
[Said neutrally. Wearing the Espeon down so that Absol would still be fresh to take down the others-- that would be his guess at the strategy, and it was solid, judging by the results.
Anyway, this was Pokemon. It wasn't a real sacrifice.]
Video
You do realize that those taunts did work, you know. They just worked in your favor.
Video
[And y'know a pesky mental images of Gibbs with his disapproving glare. Plus Albert would also glare. And perhaps yell.]
video;
[That doesn't bother her. Advantages are there to be pressed.
Also her strategy was to show Ari he can't remove all his obstacles by biting them, so.]
Video
Video
[grins a little, because yeah, he's willing to break laws when they stop him from doing the right thing, but he's not sure how well he'd take to some random person bad mouthing Bucky or Peggy]
video;
It doesn't bother him, either.]
Isn't that the whole point? I mean, you save money on Potions this way.
Video
Video
[Ziva smiles slightly.]
No one who knows me would mistake the fact that I probably started any fight I was involved in.
video;
[Hit hard, hit fast, move on--that is what she does.]
Video
[Ziva almost always keeps her head, especially in a fight. Even against guys way bigger and presumably stronger than she is.]
Re: video;
Video
So, you're a fighter?
video;
Video
[Or something close to it.]
I am now an agent of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. But I do still get use of my hand-to-hand skills from time to time.
Video
[smiles, very impressed with her resume]
It's good to get some hand-to-hand in here and there. Lately, I've only got to use it against punching bags, Norse gods, and aliens. [chuckles because it sounds crazy]
